Overview
Great Beginnings Preschool, located within First Presbyterian Church of Strasburg, focuses on the whole child. Our programs promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of each child, while emphasizing the importance of play. The classes offer developmentally appropriate lessons that facilitate learning through playful activities. Some of the activity choices include choosing time, art, literature, science, math, music, cooking and outdoor and indoor play. In this Christian setting we offer regular chapel time with Pastor Bob.
Great Beginnings Preschool offers a low tuition so the services are affordable to everybody. We encourage participation in a group fundraising activity to address financial deficits. Families have the option of avoiding the fundraising process by an additional one-time financial donation.
Children in the 3s program and Pre-K program are required to be toilet trained. This means that children must be fully independent in all aspects of toileting, including undressing, cleaning, and re-dressing.

Some of the preschool program goals include:
There is no one teaching method that is best for every child. We know the children in our care and adapt our program to fit their learning needs. We value our smaller, safe physical setting as a great place in which to help children learn to love school and to be excited and ready to make the transition to kindergarten.
Each class includes a teacher and an aide. Our teachers have received their early childhood education at various colleges and have multiple years of experience teaching children. All staff members have the appropriate background clearances required by the State of Pennsylvania and the church. In the past, there have been different aides for each day of the week, but we are trying to secure class aides who will be present each day class is held. We may rely on family members to fulfill these roles and you can indicate your interest on the preschool application.
Our preschool is centrally located between four school districts. We work closely with L-S School Districts' Early Childhood Partners in Education Program and we are members of the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
We are a peanut-free facility.
