Great Beginnings Preschool offers two separate classes for potty-trained children who have turned three by September 1. Both classes take place on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9am until 11:30, and include a maximum of 12 students per class. The two teachers often collaborate on activities and themes. The morning starts with approximately 55 minutes of "choosing time," where the children pick their preferred activities with choices of play-dough, dress-up, puzzles, trains, and a variety of educational manipulatives. Additional daily activities include circle time with many child-involved activities, art, recess (outdoor, weather permitting), snack, and story time. The classes visit Pastor Bob once per month, where we engage in the re-telling of Bible stories with child actors as well as active songs, before we end in prayer.
Miss Samantha Mills
Miss Samantha lives in Strasburg with her husband Justin, and their two children, Ava and Easton.
Samantha has an associates degree in early childhood education and is in progress of completing her bachelors degree at Millersville University. Samantha’s path to being an educator emerged when she started her own family. She fell in love with watching their little girl learn, the way her mind soaked things in, and the look on her face when something made sense! When Ava went to kindergarten, Samantha followed. First volunteering in Ava’s classroom once a week, then, when the schools shut down to volunteers due to Covid, Samantha began substituting in the special education department until her son was born in 2021. In 2022, Samantha began teaching at Great Beginnings Preschool and has loved leading a classroom of her own.
In her free time, Samantha loves reading, spending time with her family outdoors, and crafting!
Everyday Miss Samantha spends in the classroom, she is reminded why she chose to peruse a teaching career in the first place. There is nothing quite as special as the curious excitement that a 3 or 4 year old has towards life and learning!

Miss Megan Childs
Miss Megan lives in Lancaster with her husband, Kevin and three children, Luke, Logan and Kieva.
Megan received her bachelors degree from Millersville University, majoring in Elementary Education, with a concentration in Early Childhood Education. During her time at Millersville she worked part time in a daycare setting working with children ages 6 weeks through 6 years old. After college Megan accepted a position with the School District of Lancaster, teaching 1st grade for almost 5 years until the birth of her oldest child. For the last 8 years Megan has been a full time stay-at-home-mom where she has experienced her most challenging AND rewarding role to date! In addition to caring for her children and family Megan has enjoyed this time to volunteer as a Sunday school teacher and soccer coach in the community. In her free time Megan enjoys spending time with extended family and friends, staying active outdoors, trying new food, gardening and refinishing furniture. Miss Megan is thrilled to be a 3s teacher at Great Beginnings. Her favorite thing about teaching is watching children use all five senses to discover and explore concepts for the first time! |
